Thirty-six stained-glass windows once illuminated the former Shomrim Laboker synagogue on Rue Saint-Dominique. Over the years, the building was repurposed as an egg warehouse, and the windows disappeared from the premises. What happened to those precious windows? This is the mystery that filmmaker Simcha Shtull is set to uncover and by doing so, she traces not only her own family story but unveils a fascinating picture of the Jewish immigrant experience in Montreal in the 20th century. The result of such passionate search is The Windows on Rue Saint-Dominique.

The Shomrim Family is honoured to invite you to the Montreal premiere screening of The Windows on Rue Saint-Dominique on September 9 at 7 PM at Cinéma du Musée. The documentary features interviews with long-time Shomrim members Hy Brettschneider and Beryl Wajsman. A post-screening panel discussion and wine reception will follow.
